Growing it long - 2 1/2 years after the last time dying

I decided to grow it out a bit.  During my transition I saw a great picture of a woman who grew her "silver" hair long and it looked great.  So that is the quest - not too long - but I like the way that my hair shines and sparkles when the wind hits it.  Hard to believe that it has been 2 1/2 years since I stopped dying my hair.  I don't look in the mirror and wonder who is looking back at me anymore - this just feels so right.  For everyone who is in the process of growing out their gray - it is so worth it - try to have patience.  And for those that are contemplating doing it - if it doesn't feel right to do it now -don't worry - your silvers will be there waiting for you when you are ready.

The before is a bit fuzzy - but you can get the idea.   I am so pleased with what my hair looks like now.  I love the "natural" highlights that my hair has.  For everyone who is starting the journey - keep with it - it is so worth it.  I am growing it a bit more and will be interested to see how it "lightens" up as time goes on.  I will post pictures every few months so you can see.

18 Months - now letting it grow

I am letting my hair grow a bit since am fully transitioned now.  Still looking for a before picture that was not taken 5 years ago - but no luck - so my before/after pics may have to wait a bit.

People's reactions have been amusing - the majority of them love it and can't believe how good silver hair looks.  I tell them that it is just so freeing to not have to worry about it.

16 Months and maybe 1/4 inch left to cut

Just got my hair cut and I was told that I might only have 1/4 in left in some spots so I am feeling like I am done.  Now the thing to witness is my hair getting lighter since it is very salt and pepper in many places.  I am loving it.  The next post will be a before and after and then from there my posts might not come every month since it won't look that different.  But I will document it getting lighter as the months/years continue.

15 months

Again not too much different since I haven't gotten my hair cut yet.  But what is new is the picture of the back of my hair.  Finally got my husband to take one since I was finding it impossible to do so.  Now when I look at past pictures of me with my dyed hair it is jarring.  To me it looks so fake.  So happy with my real color.

14 months - and really pleased

Jut got my haircut - always exciting to see more of the brown being cut off.  Cut it a bit shorter this time since I wanted to get as much of the dye off as possible without going too short.  So happy with the way it is looking.

13 Months - almost there

Still have the brown tips.  Will be getting a haircut in the next few weeks so that should take off about an inch of them.  Really won't be able to tell what it looks like until all the dye is gone but I am really please with how it looks now and am so happy that I decided to do this.  There are some days where it seems that it is taking forever, those are the days that I just put my hair up and go about my business.
